WORKSHOP TITLE: Tools for School Success: Helping your child become an active learner

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW: Parents can make a difference in their child's education by helping the child become an active learner. Studies show that students who actively engage with the school material are more likely to recall information later and are able to use that information in different contexts. Asking your child questions about the information being studied and how the child is thinking about the information, will increase the child’s engagement in their school work. Directly modeling and teaching your child this process of questioning is an important factor in school success. This workshop reviews three basic principles that will encourage your child to become an active learner.
