For the Love of Kids 2005 Practical Parenting Conference

Michele Borba, Ed.D.
WORKSHOP TITLE: I Like Being Me! Practical Ways to Enhance Your Child’s Self-Esteem and Friendship-Making Skills

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW: Children are not born with positive self-esteem, solid character or great social skills. They are learned, and that means parents can nurture, teach, and reinforce them. This session will show you how. You will learn the three essential parenting practices that boost self-esteem, how to reframe a negative self-concept, cultivate a child’s strengths and nurture the virtues you want most for your child. You’ll also learn how to help kids’ manage anger, bounce back from defeat, stand up to peer pressure and solve problems so they can handle the challenges of life without you. Best yet, you’ll leave with an individual plan to nurture your own child’s self-esteem and friendship-making skills that you can use immediately and be inspired to do so.
