Cry for Help, an hour-long PBS documentary that aired April 29, 2009 is based on the struggles some adolescents have with mental illness, depression and suicide. It included a segment on how some parents are starting early and building an intentional, strength-based relationship with their children with the help of Beech Acres Parenting Center.
In the documentary, Edie Magnus highlights the efforts of two high schools to identify adolescents at risk. Hamilton High School in Ohio and Clarkstown North High School in New York have both been affected by teen suicide and have launched powerful new programs to prevent future tragedies.
The program features Beech Acres’ Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), an innovative therapy model, and includes comments from President and CEO Jim Mason on ways parents can connect with their children from an early age.
